The Opposite Of Loneliness

It’s been years since I spent more than a week at home and it’s been eight years since I last observed the Passover holiday in earnest. My mother’s mother died in the late 1960s, but her family has continued to include my grandfather, his second wife (the only grandmother I have ever known on that side and the best grandmother in the world), and all their children in family events despite the passing of their last connection. My mother’s grandfather had a relative; whether it was a cousin or a brother, my mother cannot remember. This relative had a daughter, and this daughter had a daughter. This girl was my cousin Marina. Marina was a promising writer and planned to move to New York to workshop her musical before its debut at the Fringe this summer. I’m a playwright myself and though it’s been years since I’ve seen Marina (Passover 2004), I’d planned to reconnect, to talk shop. Marina was killed in a car accident this past Saturday. This is her final column. It’s good. Trust me.

She will.

Ocean Margarita Jello Shots! (recipe)

I don’t drink and Jello weirds me out but I would totally make these just to look at them. They look like a Lush soap.

I promise this will be more than just a blog about cute dogs (some day…) but I just found some cute pictures of my Looloo and Rooroo.

I was looking through old entries in an online journal I was once really invested in updating, and I came upon these pictures that my grandfather and his wonderful lady friend sent me in 2008.

Spoiler alert: these little boys are the size of houses now.

This is my old Roo Roo getting his Starbucks on.

I don’t know whether my friend had a photo shoot with her new bunny or whether the bunny just discovered PhotoBooth on its own, but…bunny.

These are some puppies. They are not mine. I wish they were.
